Our heritage wool

Wool has been part of Britain’s story for centuries—valued for its warmth, durability, and natural beauty. But as synthetic alternatives dominate, traditional wool production and rare sheep breeds face increasing decline.

At Nafi, we’re helping to change that. We source traceable heritage wool—including Gotland and Jacob—from farms in the UK that prioritise regenerative agriculture, animal welfare, and soil health. Each fleece is selected for its natural texture and colour, then woven in small batches using time-honoured techniques.

By choosing our wool blankets, you’re supporting sustainable British farming and protecting a unique textile tradition.

Why UK Wool Matters

Wool has long been woven into the story of Britain — once a major industry, now at risk due to the rise of synthetics. With over 60 native sheep breeds, each with distinct colours and textures, the UK’s wool heritage is both rich and under threat.

By sourcing our heritage wool carefully, we’re helping preserve this legacy. Every step — from grazing pasture to final stitch — is fully traceable, ensuring the highest standards of care for animals, land, and people.

When you choose our wool products, you’re supporting sustainable British farming, traditional skills, and a future where craftsmanship still matters.

Processed and spun at a sustainable mill

FibreTrace traceability was used for the first time from farm to product.

From Farm to Fibre — Fully Traceable Wool

Together with FibreTrace®, we’ve built a wool supply chain that is not only local, ethical, and regenerative but also traceable from farm to final product.

At the point of shearing, every batch of wool is embedded with FibreTrace’s luminescent pigment, creating a permanent, invisible marker that stays with the fibre through every step of its journey. This allows us to scientifically verify the provenance of our wool and back up every sustainability claim we make, giving you full confidence in the integrity of what you’re buying.

Why We Use Heritage Wool for Our Baby Products

Naturally Better for Baby

Our wool products begin with nature. Wool is hypoallergenic, breathable, and temperature-regulating, making it ideal for delicate baby skin all year round. It’s a fibre that’s been trusted for generations—and for good reason.

Traceable from Farm to Fabric

We’ve traced our entire supply chain—from pasture to product—so you know exactly where your baby’s blanket or clothing comes from. Our wool is grown in the UK, spun and woven in traditional British mills, and finished with minimal processing and no harsh chemicals. Each piece is made to last—and to be treasured.

A Purchase That Protects

A purchase that protects: when you choose our wool products, you're supporting British heritage and craftsmanship, helping regenerative farmers thrive, and choosing natural fibres over synthetics in a world increasingly filled with plastic-based fabrics.

Wool from a UK Farm

We use Gotland wool and Jacob Wool from UK farms, where sustainable, organic farming is a way of life. This isn’t mass-market material—there are rare, heritage fleeces known for their softness and strength.

Made to Be Passed Down

Our wool products are designed with durability and timeless style in mind—so they can be cherished now and passed down for generations. It’s not just a gift for today, but a keepsake for tomorrow.

A Material with Meaning

While wool has a rich history in the UK, the rise of synthetics like polyester has pushed traditional fibres aside. That shift hasn't just impacted the environment—it’s also meant the loss of skills and heritage farming practices. We’re helping to reverse that.

Revitalising British wool: partnerships

Reviving British wool means supporting every stage of the supply chain—from farm to finished product. By investing in regenerative practices and traditional skills, we help unlock wool’s full potential for biodiversity, climate resilience, and rural livelihoods. Interested in collaborating? We’d love to hear from you.
