At Nafi, we're proud to partner with SAMA^Verte, a Pakistan-based social enterprise dedicated to advancing sustainable development through innovative environmental solutions. Together, we're supporting the cultivation of indigenous, naturally coloured cotton — a fibre that has grown in the region for generations and is now leading the way toward a more sustainable future for textiles.

SAMA^Verte’s work spans energy efficiency, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable agriculture — all aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their approach brings together environment, community, and economy to deliver practical, place-based solutions that foster long-term resilience.

Through this partnership, we're helping to empower farmers, protect ecosystems, and demonstrate how natural fibres like coloured cotton can offer meaningful environmental, social, and economic benefits — from seed to stitch.

Why Naturally Coloured Cotton?

Unlike conventional cotton, which is resource-intensive and often requires synthetic dyes, naturally coloured cotton is lower-impact by design:

  • Less water use during cultivation

  • Fewer pesticides, promoting healthier soils and biodiversity

  • No chemical dyes needed, thanks to its beautiful earthy tones — from beige to brown to green

By preserving the plant’s natural pigment, we eliminate the need for dyeing while showcasing its raw, organic beauty.

Supporting Crop Diversity and Farmer Resilience

This indigenous cotton variety doesn’t just reduce environmental impact — it also strengthens farming systems. Growing different cotton types together supports crop resilience, reduces pest pressure, and increases biodiversity on cotton farms.

Through our partnership, Nafi is helping to commercialise this fibre — supporting local farmers, protecting traditional seed knowledge, and demonstrating the health and environmental benefits of growing cotton differently.
